Faculty cannot be added to live courses (courses with CRNs and students) they aren't registered as the teacher for, unless it is for a formal teaching review. This is due to both the students' right to privacy under FERPA and by order of the Registrar.

Fortunately, there is a quick and easy way to share course content with colleagues.

Fill out this form to generate a DEV shell.
This form is automatic and can be used whenever and however many times necessary. An invitation should appear on your dashboard within a couple of minutes (usually less).
Import the existing course into the new shell. (follow the steps below, or click here for an illustrated guide on how to import a course)
1. Once the shell has been generated, navigate to its front page.
2. Click the Import Existing Content button, located on the right side of the page.
3. Use the Search for a course bar to locate the course you want to import and select it from the list.
4. Under Content Type, select Copy a Canvas Course.
5. Select All content from the Content section.
6. Click Import.
Add your colleague(s) to the course. (follow the steps below, or click here for an illustrated guide on how to add users)
1. Click on the People link in the course navigation menu.
2. Click the +People button at the top right.
3. Paste in the @wou.edu (NOT the @mail.wou.edu) version of your colleague's email.
  If you're adding multiple people, you can either separate their emails by a space and a comma or line by line.
4. Select the role you want them to have in the course.
  Note that you won't be able to add someone to a course as a student.
5. Click Next.
6. Confirm that the correct person is being added to your course and click Add Users.
  If you get an error on this page, double check the email listed. If it is correct, you may need to try adding the person by an alternate email (usually their student one). Doing this will link to the same Canvas user account.
